CE Programs

NVCP sponsors four or more Continuing Education programs throughout the year, ranging from of 8 – 12 CEUs accredited by the Virginia Board of Psychology. These programs are open to non-members, including colleagues in allied professions. NVCP members received a 50% discount. Our CE Committee arranges at least one event that satisfies the specific annual licensure renewal requirement of 1.5 CE units on ethics, standards of practice and the law. State regulations require 14 accredited CEUs per year for licensed psychologists.

These programs are preceded by a networking opportunity combined with a multi-course luncheon in a private dinning area, upstairs at Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant in Tyson’s II Galleria at 2001 International Drive, McLean, Virginia 22102 (Phone 703-356-9000). Advanced registration is required and may be made via mail, email or fax. For more information or to suggest a program, please contact, Diane Hoekstra, PhD, CE Committee Chair at 571-239-6276.

NVCP Member Listserv

We have a free, members-only internet Message Board ––that allows members to introduce themselves, ask questions, get advice, make referrals, accept referrals, suggest clinical and practice management resources, and discuss issues. Several referrals are posted nearly daily and the dialogues are lively, interesting and very informative. You have the option of conveniently receiving messages from the Message Board to your email box like a listserv*. Alternatively, you may prefer to go to the Message Board website to read and post messages. To learn more, contact our NVACP Message Board Moderator, Robin Knoblach at 703-995-4865.

For Instructions on signing up and accessing the message board please sign in as a Member.

NVCP Member Blog

NVCP members now have a central location to keep in touch with their organization.  An important aspect of improving our web presence is also to serve as a resource for our community.  It is part of our ethics as psychologists and a mission of our professional organization to serve the public. moves us in that direction with crisis information and news feeds about the latest mental health research.  The site will be able to grow with our organization’s goals. If there is member interest we will host a member blog post that serves a community need, such as “back-to-school tips,” “seasonal affective disorder,” “tax time stress,” “holiday stress,” “parenting tips,” and more.  Contact the board if this seems up your alley.
